THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
This phrase, “the best is yet to come,” has been used in various ways, but for Christians, it is very appropriate. If the Bible tells us anything, it tells us that this life, and this world, is just a warm-up for the real game – sort of a scrimmage, or a practice game. This life is like the opening act at a music concert or the first movie at one of the double-features some theatres used to show. The last movie was usually the main attraction and what everyone came to see, and that’s a little bit like what heaven will be. This life is a blessing, but for Christians, heaven is the icing on the cake!
The Scriptures tell us
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
nor have entered into the heart of man
the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” I Corinthians 2:9
And Jesus tells us, in John 14 –
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
Sometimes people say things about heaven not being a real place, or those who go there will simply sit on clouds playing harps, but these are all lies constructed by the devil to keep people deceived and trapped in sin. The truth is, heaven will be everything God says it is and this world, as beautiful as it is, will pale in comparison.
One of the main reasons heaven will be so extraordinary is because we will see Jesus face to face, and fellowship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit daily! Just like the old song, Amazing Grace says, “When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright-shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise, than when we first begun.” God is so great, that we will never, ever become tired of praising Him! We will be completely and eternally infatuated with His goodness, love, power, wisdom and knowledge.
And the best thing is, the blessing of knowing God and spending eternity with Him is available to all who will repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ. That is what God wants and what He is calling all people to do, today. If you are not totally sure that you have done this or not, before this world comes to an end, or your life on this planet is finished, won’t you turn your heart to Jesus and find the peace that comes to those who know that “the best is truly yet to come!”
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” I Timothy 2:3,4
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9
“but now he (God) commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed (Jesus), and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:30,31
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. Acts 3:19-21
