HOW CAN I KNOW FOR SURE THAT I AM SAVED? by Steve Stone
There are several ways to answer this question, but I would like to answer it by referring to a verse of Scripture, John 14:15, where Jesus says,
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
Are you keeping Jesus’ commandments? Do you know what His commandments are? Jesus’ commandments are clearly spelled out in the Bible. Do you read the Bible regularly? How many times have you read the Bible this week, this month, this year?
If you truly know Jesus and love Him, you will want to read His Word so you can know what He wants His children to do.
Luke 6:46 says, “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?”
Will reading the Bible get me into heaven? No, but only those who know the Lord and love Him will actually read the Scriptures and obey them.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
Jesus also said this when they told Him that His mother and brothers had come to see Him and were waiting outside,
He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:48-50
Was Jesus saying He didn’t care about His earthly family? Of course not, He was just emphasizing the fact that there is only one thing that will grant your entrance into heaven and that is your faith and love for God which is proven by your actions of obedience.
So, with these things in mind, do you now know for sure that you are a child of God and are truly saved? If not, please stop what you are doing right now and go to a place where you can be alone. Drop to your knees and repent of your sins and ask Jesus to forgive you and come into your life. Ask Him to give you the Holy Spirit to be with you for the rest of your days so that you can read and understand the Words of God and obey them. Do it TODAY – tomorrow may be too late!
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31,32
