WAKE UP CHURCH – TERROR IS NOT THE PROBLEM!
Yes, of course, terrorism is a huge and deadly problem today, but it is not the main problem – it is a symptom. Terror is simply what happens in nations which do not have the blessing of God, or those who have lost the blessing or are in the process of losing it. The blessing of God comes ONLY to nations who honor and respect the Creator. So says the Bible (Psalms 33:12) and Abraham Lincoln[1], and history as well as current events proves this to be correct.
And now it is the duty of believers in America to lead this nation back to God, through repentance, prayer, love and holy living. If God’s people do not get serious and show the way, and soon, our country is doomed!
1 Peter 2:9 – ” But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. “
II Chronicles 7:14 points the way back. It is simple, but it will not be easy.
“- if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
I realize this verse was originally written to Jews in Israel, but Christians in America today are just as much God’s people as they were, and I believe God’s promise is the same. The question is, will we quit playing our “church” games long enough to get serious and do what we need to do.
In Revelation 2 and 3, Jesus told all of the seven churches to repent but two. Ephesus had lost their first love. Have we not done the same? Sardis needed to wake up because they were dead. How many new believers has your church baptized lately? And Laodicea was lukewarm. If that doesn’t typify the church in America, I don’t know what does!
I have been trying to fast and pray, but honestly, I am not very good at it. The only way we are going to be effective with our prayers is if we all storm the altar together, and repent to God with all our hearts and beg for Him to revive us and give us a new vision of the living Lord Jesus Christ – the God who is with us, today, right now.
Many will think I am too radical, but I agree with something I read online —“We need to cancel most everything we do and gather together day after day and pray——Many wonder why I keep beating a dead horse. It’s simple. Because the horse is still dead——‘Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in thesight of my God. ~Rev. 3:2.’—It’s time to—— eliminate everything that will distract us—and pray……………… until revival breaks out.”[2]
It took a Civil War to get President Lincoln to proclaim a national fast day in 1863. What is it going to take today to for the church in America to wake up and cry out to Almighty God to save our nation. It is up to the Church to pray. Who else is going to do it?
If we don’t get serious Church, it’s gonna be too late! I believe God is allowing everything that is happening right now so that maybe His people “might” just get serious and cry out to Him in repentance and beg for revival. Because it is “our” job to be the “light” in this dark world. But if we don’t HAVE that light, and that “FIRE” burning in us, how will the world ever SEE that Jesus Christ is really and truly alive?!!!
Its time for the Church to BE the Church. We are His Body, His hands and His feet. Its time to pray in our prayer closets, in our churches, in our small groups, and to gather together in our cities and communities and pray. When they prayed in the book of Acts, the building shook. I believe that if we repent and pray and ask the Spirit of God to fall on us again, there is still hope for America.
[1] Proclamation Appointing a National Fast Day, March 30, 1863
Washington, D.C. March 30, 1863Senator James Harlan of Iowa, whose daughter later married President Lincoln’s son Robert, introduced this Resolution in the Senate on March 2, 1863. The Resolution asked President Lincoln to proclaim a national day of prayer and fasting. The Resolution was adopted on March 3, and signed by Lincoln on March 30, one month before the fast day was observed. |
By the President of the United States of America.A Proclamation.Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation. And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord. And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness. Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do, by this my proclamation, designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th. day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting and prayer. And I do hereby request all the People to abstain, on that day, from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite, at their several places of public worship and their respective homes, in keeping the day holy to the Lord, and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion. All this being done, in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the City of Washington, this thirtieth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty seventh.By the President: Abraham Lincoln
William H. Seward, Secretary of State.
