Imagine

"Imagine never having to remember a computer password again.....your ATM pin code.....where you left your credit card, or ID?"

This is how the article from the Chicago Tribune began.   It appeared in our local newspaper  back in August of 2017.   The article  goes on to explain the incredible conveniences that are soon coming to our everyday life, via computer chips,  which can be easily embedded into your person.  We are encouraged to "imagine" how great it would be to sail through airport security, or the security gate at work,  etc.

News articles like this are common these days, and I feel sure they seem very innocent to most people. However, they do not appear innocent at all  to those who read the Bible.  Many  Christians have been waiting for  this kind of news -  for two thousand years.

You see the last book of the Scriptures, Revelation, foretells a time when the whole world will be forced  to receive a "mark,"  in order to do business - to buy or sell.

If you have never heard of this prophecy, you may think the whole idea sounds  absurd.  But if you think about it for a moment, perhaps you can see why it is not at all beyond the realm of possibility.  We live in a time when identity theft is stealing billions of dollars around the world  and terrorists are showing up in every nation.   Add to that all the wars going on today, economic fluctuations and disease epidemics, as well as many possible natural disasters.  Any of these things, or maybe  a combination of two or more, could easily thrust our  world into the kind of panic where authorities could call for everyone to chipped immediately.

But there is one more important aspect of the Biblical prophecy that needs to be mentioned. Not only does the Word of God warn us specifically about the mark that will be forced upon all people, it also tells us that those who receive this mark, and pledge their allegiance to the  world ruler who gives it, will be guaranteeing their place in hell.   This is not my idea.  This is the warning that was given to the apostle John, by none other than the Lord Jesus Christ.

People throughout our world have been reading this prophecy for thousands of years, wondering how something like this could actually happen, and here we are in 2018 and its looks very much like the forerunner to the "mark of the beast" could very well be upon us.

Revelation 13 says, "He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name." Revelation 14 continues to tell us that anyone who receives the mark of the beast AND worships the beast and his image, will be tormented in hell for eternity.

Of course the Tribune article mentions none of this. It simply reveals the amazing convenience of this new technology.   And, it  is all voluntary.  No one is forcing anyone - not yet!  I admit, it may be  years before anything approaching coercion will occur.  But who knows what could  happen in a few years, or even a few months?

Just take a look back at how quickly technology has changed our world, from video games to smart-phones, in  a few short years.  And we all know that it looks like there will be many more changes coming soon.    (It is worth noting that recently both of my credit cards began  including microchips, and when I asked, they said I could not opt out.)

Right now, we are being encouraged to "imagine" how easy our lives  could become.  And as more and more  people "volunteer,"  it  may not be long before being "chipped" will be just as natural as going to the dentist, and even less painful!  Then, when some crisis comes along, everyone will say, "Sure, we all need to do this. How could anyone refuse?"

Many will say that computer chip technology is completely harmless and has nothing to do with Biblical prophecy, but I say to everyone right now, PLEASE DO NOT BE DECEIVED! God warned us all so that we would NOT be deceived.   Jesus  spoke often of hell as a real place, because He does not want any of us to go there

On the contrary, God has prepared a wonderful place for all of His people to spend eternity with Him. Heaven is the paradise that all of us have dreamed of.  It will be even more glorious than the garden of Eden and we are all invited.  Jesus assured this when He prayed to the Father  from the cross, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

We have all sinned against God greatly, but we are forgiven if we sincerely repent of our sins and place our faith in Christ. When we do,  our names are written in God's Book of Life and we also receive  God's Holy Spirit, to guide us  each day.   Only by having God's Spirit in your heart will you have the wisdom and strength to say no thank you,  if  the mark is of the beast is ever offered to you.

I would like to encourage everyone to reach out and put your hand on your chest. Feel  your heart beating,  and think about why it is beating.  Think about why we all exist, and who put us here.  God loves each one of us and wants us all to spend eternity with Him, in heaven.

Though we walk through many struggles and trials in life,  Christians have the comfort of knowing that our future is secure in Christ.  The Word of God is a treasure of wisdom and knowledge, and the fellowship of other believers is there every day.  If you want to imagine what will truly give you comfort and peace of mind, read the Scriptures, go to church and find people who love God so that you can  learn the truth about all that is available when  you  open your  heart  to the Lord.

"The time has come, and the kingdom of God is near.  Repent (change the way you think and act), and believe the Good News (the Gospel)."
