"even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!  As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!     Galatians 1:8,9

Ever since the church of Jesus Christ has been established, there have always been dangerous perversions of the truth.  They existed in the early years of the church, and they exist today.  There are groups who say that they believe the gospel and even use the name of Christ, but do not believe that Jesus was who He claimed to be or that He did what He clearly did.

So, what is the gospel?  ----   It is the plain, but powerful truth that the Son of God was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life,  was crucified on a cross for the sin of all mankind,  and rose from the dead to give us the hope of eternal life through faith in Him.  You can find these truths in I Corinthians 15:1-8, and many, many other places throughout the New Testament.

Is this the gospel that your church believes and preaches?  There are some who profess to be Christians, but when pressed will tell you that they do not believe Jesus was actually the Son of God, or that He truly died and was resurrected.

But the Bible is very clear about these facts.  John, chapter one declares, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning .  Through him all things were made;  without him nothing was made that has been made.....The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us."                John 1:1-3,14

This is, of course, exactly what was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah (7:14) many years before , and repeated in the book of Matthew 1:23  -

"Behold! The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel" (which means, "God with us").

Some will say that Jesus was a prophet, and a very great teacher, but not the Son of God who became a man.  However, to believe less than what the Scriptures tell us about Christ is indeed a very dangerous thing.  The apostle Paul states that believing a "false" gospel will bring a curse on you, which means that your faith is useless and will not take you to heaven.

But that is not at all what God wants.  That is why there are so many Scriptures that tell us what we need to do to be saved.  John 3:16, Romans 10:9,10, etc. , etc. , etc.  In fact, Romans 10:13 makes it so very simple -  "Everyone who calls upon the Lord will be saved."

When you call out to the Lord in prayer, you are admitting you are a sinner in need of a Savior, just like the thief on the cross beside Jesus.  And the fact that you are calling out to Him, shows that you believe He is who He said He was and is - the Son of God.  And your cry for help shows that you are ready to accept the salvation He has come to bring.

To be sure, there are many religions in the world, but there is only One who has died for our sins and rose from the dead - and his name is Jesus Christ.  So please, make sure that you have called out to the Savior today, while you still have the chance.  None of us knows when our last chance.
